St. Croix Systems Adds Asset Logistics and Utilization™ to Suite of Healthcare Enterprise Asset Information Products

Hennepin County Medical Center goes live with latest release of Asset Information Suite; A comprehensive solution to automate the logistics, utilization and location of healthcare provider's mobile assets.

Boston, MA - September 14, 2005 - St. Croix Systems Corporation, the award-winning Healthcare Enterprise Asset Information System (AIS) Company, today announced the availability of Asset Logistics and Utilization (ALU), the newest addition to the company's suite of software products. The result of close collaboration between St. Croix Systems and Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC), Asset Logistics and Utilization is in daily production at the Minneapolis-based healthcare provider.

"Asset Logistics and Utilization is a key addition to our suite of AIS products," said Sam Adams, chief executive officer and president, St. Croix Systems. "Our customers have told us that asset logistics and utilization tracking is necessary to automate the entire lifecycle of mobile clinical assets including request, order, issue, delivery and pickup of clinical assets across the enterprise."

Asset Logistics and Utilization is an essential solution for healthcare system personnel to understand how and where expensive clinical assets, leased and owned, are deployed. ALU provides patient care and hospital service staff real-time data indicating the location of the device and its availability for use - automating getting the right equipment to the right patient at the right time. For hospital executives, ALU captures real-time and historical location and utilization data which drives more strategic asset purchasing decisions, reduced capital expenditures, reduced rental equipment costs, more accurate patient revenue capture, and increased confidence in FDA and JCAHO compliance.

"St. Croix Systems has delivered a product that brings complete visibility to our hospital's mobile clinical assets and associated utilization allowing us to control costs and provide more accurate reporting. Using ALU we expect to save 10% on our annual equipment rental costs and reduce capital expenditures on mobile assets by 8% annually," said Phillip Gill, director of Biomedical Engineering, Hennepin County Medical Center. "In addition to our cost savings, ALU becomes an invaluable tool when the hospital must quickly respond to FDA requirements of associating the exact equipment utilized by a patient during their stay."

By leveraging the option to interface with the provider's Admission, Discharge and Transfer systems (ADT), Asset Logistics and Utilization seamlessly ties equipment records to a patient's care record further automating the process of getting the right equipment to the right patient at the right time and if the provider is billing for equipment, assuring it is accurate. When a patient is discharged, the appropriate hospital personnel are notified and equipment can be retrieved and prepared for use by the next patient. "We have enjoyed working with the team at HCMC to develop this solution," said Sam Adams. "St. Croix Systems is pleased to deliver a product that provides valuable information to support the complex decisions surrounding our client's needs to reduce costs, increase efficiencies, improve accuracy in medical device failure reporting, and better manage their equipment demands."
